BU Graduate Business el RHEY Launches Inaugural Product at EBC Event
Innovative Bournemouth University graduate business, el RHEY, launched their first rainwear product last night in a brilliantly planned event at the BU Executive Business Centre in Lansdowne.
ColourMe Wellies is the first product designed, sourced, refined and now launched by the fledgling company and facilitates the fusion of the creativity of the el RHEY team with that of their consumers. A blank canvas for child (and adult) artists, The ColourMe Wellies product allows children to colour beautifully created designs printed on their wellington boot with special, high-end permanent marker pens and also to express their own creativity by designing the rest of the boot.
The ColourMe Wellies boot is a first-to-market product by the specialist rainwear company and is the founding product of the range. It is available for pre-order via their Kickstarter campaign as from tonight and will be available at internet retailers Not On The High Street.com and Dorothy & Theodore. The have also secured distribution via independent retailers and are currently in talks with major high street retailers. Their first major production run will be in stores after 13th October.
The event last night showcased not only their innovative product, but also the team’s creativity via their event at the EBC. After being welcomed to the beautifully decorated and el RHEY-branded 7th floor with champagne and popcorn, visitors were then invited to view the brand-new promotional video for ColourMe Wellies filmed by AUB graduate company, Kube Productions.
el RHEY is a Bournemouth University graduate business within the Centre for Entrepreneurship with founder Kaisa Kangro graduating last year with a degree in Business Studies, which included specialist modules in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
el RHEY has received extensive support from the Centre for Entrepreneurship, in addition to their DORMEN mentors. The CfE team managed to secure funding from Santander to assist with 6 months of office space, plus via the Alumni office has secured additional funding for 3 interns to assist with marketing. el RHEY has proactively joined in with all of the events run by the CfE on all aspects of business: sales and marketing through to product development and finance. They have also benefited from one-to-one advice from our Entrepreneurs in Residence such as C4L’s Matt Hawkins who was able to advise about managing growth and Fluvial Innovation’s Simon Phelps through to a tenant surgery with Chartered Tax Adviser Catherine Phillips.
Additionally, the CfE was able to put in place a bespoke focus group from entrepreneurs within high-end children’s wear; product development; and pitching arenas for the start up to assist with considering aspects of its business strategy.
el RHEY are looking forward to an exciting Autumn as their Kickstarter campaign kicks off and their ColourMe Wellies hit stores next month.
